Why IR scholars should care about quantum theory, part II: critics in the PITs

Abstract Part II responds to some of my critics' substantive concerns about QMASS . However, sharpen that discussion I first introduce the idea classical and quantum physical instantiation tests or ‘PITs’. PITs are a thought experiment taking advantage causal closure physics. To encourage critical self-reflection on usually tacit ontological assumptions our theories, invite social scientists translate their mostly qualitative, folk psychological arguments into descriptions, meeting constraints respectively, see which feels more appropriate case at hand. With this diagnostic tool in hand, paper addresses criticisms five areas: (1) threat physics reductionism; (2) potential for epistemic repression stemming from realist nature QMASS’ argument; (3) doubts approach can support genuine notion human freedom; (4) place ethics normativity international life; (5) implications graduate methods training pedagogy generally.
